Description
A slotted orchid pot built for roots that need light and air, not soil.
Orchids are epiphytes — in the wild their roots hang in air and photosynthesise. Put them in a solid pot with potting compost and they rot. This pot is slotted right through, so air moves across the whole root mass and water drains instantly, which is exactly the environment a phalaenopsis or cattleya wants. Large enough for a mature plant with an established root ball.
What makes it worth it
- Slotted through the walls and base for full airflow to the roots
- Water drains instantly — no standing water at the crown
- Sized for a mature orchid with an established root mass
- Fits inside a decorative cachepot if you want to hide it
- Rigid enough to lift by the rim with a heavy plant in it
- Any colour we stock; translucent tones let light reach the roots
Made for
- Phalaenopsis, cattleya, dendrobium and oncidium
- Repotting an orchid that has outgrown its nursery pot
- Bright windowsills and plant rooms
- Anyone who has lost an orchid to root rot
Use bark mix, never potting soil, and let it dry between waterings. With this much airflow the usual orchid failure — a rotted crown — becomes very hard to achieve.
Printed to order in Canada
Every Compl3x piece is printed and finished by hand in our own Canadian workshop after you order it, so nothing sits in a warehouse and nothing is mass-produced. Colour options and custom sizing are a conversation, not a no — just ask.
Care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Use a saucer or a plastic liner if you water directly in the pot, and keep it out of hard all-day sun, which can soften the finish over a long summer.
