Description
A lamp in the Japanese ido style — a textured, thick-walled form that glows unevenly and deliberately.
Ido ware is prized for irregularity: thick walls, a warm uneven surface, pooling where the glaze gathers. This lamp translates that into light. The wall thickness varies across the form, so the glow is brighter in some places than others, and the surface texture carries the same accidental quality the ceramics are admired for. Unlit it is a heavy-looking vessel; lit, it is alive.
What makes it worth it
- Deliberately uneven wall thickness, so the glow varies across the form
- Surface texture drawn from ido ceramic irregularity
- Sized for a standard LED bulb or LED light kit
- Reads as a substantial ceramic vessel when unlit
- Far lighter than the ceramic it takes after
- Any colour we stock — warm whites, sand and clay tones glow best
Made for
- Bedside tables, sideboards and tea rooms
- Japandi, wabi-sabi and minimal interiors
- Rooms that need warmth rather than brightness
- Gifts for people who notice surfaces
Warm white, around 2700K, and an LED only. The whole effect depends on light passing through an uneven wall, and a cool bulb turns that warmth into something clinical.
Printed to order in Canada
Every Compl3x piece is printed and finished by hand in our own Canadian workshop after you order it, so nothing sits in a warehouse and nothing is mass-produced. Colour options and custom sizing are a conversation, not a no — just ask.
Care
Use with an LED bulb or LED light kit only — LEDs run cool. Dust with a dry, soft brush or cloth. Do not fit an incandescent or halogen bulb.
