Description
An open-sided wall shelf that frames what you put on it instead of boxing it in.
Closed shelving hides things; open shelving displays them. This one is built as a minimal frame — a floor, a back, and just enough structure at the edges to hold it rigid — so a plant, a book and a small sculpture read as a composition rather than as objects in a cubby. It mounts flush and the fixings do not show.
What makes it worth it
- Open sides that frame rather than enclose
- Concealed fixings — nothing visible from the front
- Deep enough for books and small plants, shallow enough not to dominate
- Groups well: two or three stepped up a wall looks deliberate
- Rigid across the span, no sag under a row of books
- Any colour we stock, including matched to the wall
Made for
- Living rooms, hallways and bedrooms
- Plants, books, records and small sculpture
- Rented flats where one set of fixings is the limit
- Above a desk or a bedside table
Three of these, staggered up a wall at uneven intervals, is the arrangement that makes a blank wall look like it was designed. Order them together and we will print them as a matched set.
Printed to order in Canada
Every Compl3x piece is printed and finished by hand in our own Canadian workshop after you order it, so nothing sits in a warehouse and nothing is mass-produced. Colour options and custom sizing are a conversation, not a no — just ask.
Care
Fix into a stud, or use the anchor rated for your wall type, and keep the load sensible. Wipe clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth.
