This slips over the brick, hides it completely, and gives the cable a channel to run through so the slack is wound inside rather than pooled on the carpet. It costs almost nothing and it makes a visible difference the moment it is on.

Wipe clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and prolonged direct sunlight, which can dull the finish over time.
